Türkiye's Oscar Entry Selected: " One of Those Days When Hemme Dies" to Compete for International Best Film

" One of Those Days When Hemme Dies" director Murat Fıratoğlu's debut feature, has been chosen as Türkiye's official submission for the Best International Feature Film category at the upcoming 98th Academy Awards.

The decision was made by a 15-member Turkish Oscar Selection Committee, which includes representatives from various cinema professional organizations. The committee evaluated 14 feature films before selecting "One of the Days of Hemme" by majority vote.

The film centers on Eyüp, a character in the town of Siverek who works tirelessly under the scorching sun during a tomato harvest to pay off his debts. Following a conflict with his supervisor, Eyüp searches for a radical solution to his problems by wandering through the city.

" One of Those Days When Hemme Dies" has already garnered significant international recognition. The film had its world premiere at the 81st Venice International Film Festival, where it screened in the prestigious Orizzonti section and was awarded the Special Jury Prize. This early success on the festival circuit has built strong momentum as the film begins its journey toward the Oscars.

The nominations for the 98th Academy Awards will be announced on January 23, 2026, with the ceremony scheduled for March 2, 2026.
